California wildfires: Kim Kardashian shares video after being evacuated from her home

Reality star Kim Kardashian has taken to social media after her family was evacuated from their California home as wildfires spread across the U.S. state.

“Pray for Calabasas,” the star posted on Instagram.

“Just landed back home and had 1 hour to pack up & evacuate our home. I pray everyone is safe.”

The home of Kardashian’s stepparent Caitlyn Jenner has reportedly been burned down by the fires, however the former Olympic medalist is safe, according to TMZ.

Disney CEO Bob Iger shared an image of the “view from [his] office”. The photo shows smoke looming behind the iconic Disney studios water tower.

In a state already devastated by the mass-shooting in Thousand Oaks this week, these fires have already killed at least nine.

Five died either inside or near their cars as they tried to escape the Camp Fire in Butte County.

Four others were found either outside or in homes.

In the city of Paradise in Butte County, 80 to 90 per cent of residents lost their home to the Camp Fire, according to the town’s mayor.

35 people have been reported missing and three firefighters have been injured.

U.S. president Donald Trump, currently in France to mark the centenary of armistice, tweeted this morning criticising California forest management and threatening to pull federal funding.

Current acting governor of California Gavin Newsom, who was elected governor on Tuesday, sent a letter requesting Trump issue a Presidential Emergency Declaration for the state. This would release more funds to held battle the fires and help with the aftermath.
